Hello, my name is Shlomo Azoulai, and this is the story of how my kallah and I went from young newly married couple to caretakers of 4, overnight.
My mother a”h was an amazing woman, who raised 5 children by herself. She was extremely brave, and strong, and went through a lot in her life. Recently she was diagnosed with cancer, then had a stroke. She passed away a month and a half ago, shortly after I got married. It has been a huge shock for all of us.
After Mom passed away, my little siblings had nowhere to go, so they moved in with myself and my kallah. We have a small, one room apartment. We do our best to take care of the kids’ needs, but I have to admit that we don’t have the space or resources to properly raise them. They sleep on the floor, and sometimes even on the porch.
Now it is the summer and everyone is home, and we are all struggling. There is no room for all of us in one room. They are hot, they are bored, but above all they are in pain - mourning the loss of our mom, feeling that there is no place for them in the world.
The new school year is beginning and I do not have money for their school tuition. If you could help us, so that we could rent a place with space for them to have beds, to get them clothing and supplies for school, and all of the other expenses which come with raising a family of this size, it would change our lives.
The world is on my shoulders. I am asking if you can, if you will, take some of that weight on with me. Four kids will thank you for it.
Thank you. Shlomo
