In 2007, the Cheder Chabad of Baltimore started with a small but hopeful group of 12 little preschoolers.

Those pioneers had dreamt of getting more of a turnout. But they weren’t let down. The dream was to provide a true Torah education, and that’s what the Cheder did from day one.

Being a part of a child's growth is the calling you must put everything into. Without the children, we have nothing. There is no community, no continuity, and no portion in the Torah itself. And all the more so at a Chabad Cheder - the real center of any Chabad community.

Cheder Chabad took those twelve students and brought out their strengths. It was like twelve separate classes were going on, all within one room. The rebbes and boys worked together on values. They worked on Simcha. They worked on becoming real yidden, through and through.

The years went on, and the venue changed. And changed again. Much of the staff moved on, leaving the Cheder in the hands of those who continue the same vision. The Cheder Chabad family, and with each student, we pursued the same goal of bringing out the best in them.

We’ve doubled in size many times over since we began and have outgrown our space more than once.

We have many hundreds of students, boys and girls, in every grade. It’s not uncommon for a family to fill up an 8-seater and drop everyone off at our door.

This is the Cheder you’ve come to love. This is the warmth you’ve come to expect.

We’re not about hype and fanfare. We’re about Torah, chassidus, and the future of k’lal yisroel.

You’ve come to rely on us, and we’ve come to rely on you.
