To: Whomever Cares about Saving Lives in Israel

The pioneering Zionists of the 1800’s and 1900’s possessed remarkable foresight and courage to equip Israel with the infrastructure needed to absorb millions of inhabitants after their time. By 1947, 14 major hospitals had been founded with the ability to provide medical care throughout the land. Part of their vision for the new country was explicitly to be a land with extraordinary forward thinking and progressive developments. Contrary, though, to its great hopes for developing in peaceful times, the fledgling state found itself attacked physically and politically from its very inception. The overwhelming majority of Israel’s budget has continually gone towards defense to just secure our Jewish sovereignty. From 1948 until the present, Israel managed to open an additional 14 hospitals, almost all based on the generosity of philanthropists worldwide.

In each location, as the population grows, the need for new hospitals becomes evidently clear, often painfully clear. When this takes place, Israeli citizens become activists for the sake of saving lives. Ultimately, the government always provides continued support and responsibility. However, the first steps are always forged by the people. Mrs. Wolfson wished to open a hospital in memory of her husband and opened the Wolfson Medical Center, the Klausenberger Rebbe, desperate to save lives in Netanya raised extraordinary funds to open Laniado, Dr.Rothchild acted in the same vein to open Maaynei HaYeshua, the Ger community raised millions of dollars to open the facility in Ashdod, and as such the list goes on. This is the way hospitals in Israel, along with many other critical initiatives, are built to help the now 70 year old state flourish.

Israel Medical Centers has set out to fill the medical gaps in the country. Over one million tourists visit the Golan in Israel’s north with zero hospital services, and similar numbers vacation in Eilat in the south with insufficient facilities. Likewise, hundreds of thousands of Israel’s families are situated throughout the land, in the East and West with the nearest hospital over a 1 hour drive away. Israel Medical Centers stands committed to working together with the State of Israel to preserve more lives throughout the land.

IMC’s beginning focus is the Mateh Yehuda Region in central Israel which includes over 30 communities and 200,000 citizens from different denominations and religions. Aviezer, Bayt Jamal, Beit Shemesh, Beitar Illit, Eshtaol, Jaba, Nacham, Sdot Micha, Tzora, and Yishi are just a few of the  well-known areas within the region. Hospitals have the incredible opportunity to create an environment of equality, tolerance, and appreciation of all people. Our mission is to caringly and professionally treat each individual as an indispensable champion for all humanity, hopefully modeling and facilitating the noblest values of our Nation.

Here, in Mateh Yehuda, in July, 2017 an expecting mother lost her baby in the ambulance and another baby lost oxygen for too long causing permanent brain damage. We lost a man on the way to the hospital this October, 2017, and an expecting mother passed away in June, 2017 due to hemorrhaging immediately after delivering her baby in the ambulance.

After two years of exploratory research and working closely with the municipality, the misrad habriut (Israel’s health ministry), the kuppot cholim, and some of Israel's largest hospitals, IMC has found the opportunity to materialize the dream of opening a local hospital. There is no set script of how to build more hospitals. But, IMC is writing that script.

During our research stages, IMC also worked on securing a number of other life-saving devices. We have donated 3 defibrillator`s to local synagogues, a digital bilirubin machine to Ezrat Achim, and an ICU / ALS ambulance to MADA. Now, we are putting all of our focus and resources into building the hospital.

Thank you for your support.

B’vracha,

R’ Benjy Kwalwasser
