Congregation Ahavas Achim of Highland Park has always been a community known for our welcome, our care, and our dedication to one another and to Klal Yisrael.
The Learn-A-Thon was conceived last year, when the COVID-19 pandemic struck, keeping us all from our beloved shul and imposing a necessary delay on our annual Shul Dinner. Today, nearly a full year later, Congregation Ahavas Achim has proven that the strength of community is more powerful than a pandemic. Throughout the year, we have adapted to each new challenge, keeping our dedication to shul and community alive in every format available to us, from indoor and outdoor daily minyanim to virtual shiurim, ongoing youth events, a baking drive for the needy, and even our first-ever Drive-In Shul Dinner.
This year, our Learn-A-Thon will celebrate the love of Torah that unites us all while raising money for a shul that has fortified us as much in the past year as in its entire incredible 132-year history. With an impressive roster of speakers including Rabbi JJ Schacter of Yeshiva University and Daniel Mariaschin of B’nai B’rith International, this year’s Learn-A-Thon is sure to blow you away. While there is no cost to attend, we welcome donations of any amount to help support this important fundraiser.
Our Match Campaign will begin on Wednesday Night, March 3rd, with a musical performance by Seth Maza and a shiur by Alex Ostrin, both AA "alumni" studying abroad in Israel. The ten-day long campaign, which culminates with our 12-hour day of learning, will also feature a virtual cooking show with celebrity chef Naomi Nachman sponsored by Glatt 27 on Saturday Night, March 6th.
Our goal is to raise $60,000 in order to ensure that Congregation Ahavas Achim can continue to meet the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of all its members. Donations will be taken online or on the phone, and sponsorships for the event are available.
For more information or to sponsor a portion of the event, please reach out to Rob at RHaarburger@AAFundraising.org. We thank you for helping us make this community a family!
